Why use handmade soap? TOP
*The biggest reason I use (and love) handmade soap is the way it makes my skin feel. The natural glycerin is left in the soap (unlike commercial soaps or detergent bars, which have been stripped of the natural glycerin), so they are cleansing and moisturizing at the same time.
*Most commercial soap is made up mostly of animal fats (lard, tallow), and it is sometimes difficult to find an all-vegetable bar at your local grocery store. This is the reason I started to make my own soap nine years ago - I was totally grossed out after finding that I had been rubbing saponified lard over my body for years. Vegans and vegetarians use handmade soap for this reason.
*The environment. Commercial bars are often made of detergents, synthetic fragrances (even those labelled "fragrance-free", surprisingly), and dyes. Their ingredient lists are neither recognizable nor pronouncable! My soap is made from ingredients that you will not only recognize, but may actually have in your kitchen cupboard! They are scented with pure essential oils, and the only colourants we use are from natural sources (such as cinnamon, turmeric, clays, jojoba beads, and oxides).
How long will a bar of soap last? TOP
The best thing you can do to ensure your soaps will last as long as possible is to use a draining soap dish. Don't let the soap sit in a puddle! Handmade soaps will absorb moisture if not allowed to dry after use.
My family of 3 (2 adults, 1 toddler) tends to use a bar every 2-3 weeks.

*I use organic and fair trade ingredients wherever possible, and always try to find an ingredient locally before sourcing elsewhere.
*All paper used by ecoerin is 100% recycled, or a combination of hemp pulp and post-consumer recycled paper.
*Materials used to ship products are reused and/or recycled, whenever possible.
